UFO Sighting Reports We have some great reports to look over this week, with the first two from our readers. California-08-26-07-2:30 AM-I received the following sighting report from one of our readers. In the city of Lakewood on a cloudy night, a blinking light appeared. I thought it was a star or plane moving. It kept blinking: moving back and forth then disappeared when a thick cloud went by. 2:30 AM Sunday 08/26/07 source: about.com reader Paul M. California-mid 80s-I received the following report from one of our readers. Back in the mid 80s, my brother-in-law worked part time for a small company that delivered the "Wall-street Journal" to small businesses. The deliveries were done at night with him returning home around 7 AM. Since he was working both days and nights, once in a while I would help him out by running his delivery route for him, usually on Friday nights so he and my sister could have some time for themselves. At the time we all lived in the Northern California town of Santa Rosa, located in Sonoma county. The delivery route however, was northeast of there in Lake County. Lake County is about an hour or so away from Santa Rosa, through Napa County and up over Mt. St. Helena... A twisty-windy mountain drive. On this particular night my wife's brother (Jim) decided to go with me and give me a hand. The delivery went well and we were on our way back home. Just as you come off the mountain there is an immediate right turn to get us back home, I missed it, and after a few minutes I realized what happened and decided to continue to the next road and then double back that way. We were now in Napa County, and near the small town of Calistoga. The road was a small, one lane in each direction country road. On the left was a hill and on the right was flat field with a few small trees. We were now heading west, it was still dark but heading towards dawn very swiftly. As we drove I noticed that a farmer was working in the field as I saw two bright headlights from his tractor. As I drove and watched the farmer, I noticed that he was approaching one of those small trees, as the silhouette of the tree was clearly seen as the headlights shone through it. As the tractor got closer to the tree, it stopped, and to our amazement the lights began to rise up. Just as they began to raise they went out... I immediately hit the brakes and came to a complete stop. Jim and I jumped out and ran to the back of the car. By this time the sky was just beginning to lighten up and made a perfect background for what we were about to witness. The object was moving very slowly and cruising at about thirty or thirty-five feet high. I literally could have thrown a rock and hit the object. I would guess the object to have had a wing span of approximately thirty-five feet, and maybe twenty-five feet from front to back. It was very dark in color, black or dark gray. It made no sound or left any trails. There did seem to be a slight ruffle in the wind, kind of hard to explain. There were no lights except for a slight orange glow that emanated from the front/top area. We were looking straight up at the bottom so we could not see the top at all, but I felt that there was some kind of cockpit that the glow was coming from. The only way that I can think to describe the shape is that it was very similar to an ocean stingray or manta-ray type fish: It was extremely cool looking I must admit. The tips of the wings seemed to tip downward slightly, and the very center underbelly of the object seemed to curve inward from nose to tail. I want to add that I was left with a feeling that it was in no hurry. It didn't seem to feel any threat. So there we were, standing on the side of the road in complete amazement when suddenly multiple police cars, both marked and un-marked went ripping by. It seemed to get daylight almost instantly, and the object was just gone. It was headed southeast and must have just gone over the hill to our left. When we arrived home I immediately made a phone call to the sheriff sub-station in that area. I told them what we saw. He told me that the object had flown over the station and that several deputies had taken off after it. Several days later the front page of the local newspaper (The Press Democrat) told of a UFO that had been seen in the early morning hours crossing over Hwy. 101 south of Santa Rosa. They described it as being shaped like an "X", I believe that it was the same object that we had seen days earlier. At the time of the sighting, I remember just how amazed we were at what was happening. Now that I'm older, I think that I might react a bit different if this was to happen again. I mean that we were not scared at all, we were so caught up in the moment. But now, it might shake me up a bit. I'd still have to get out and see it, but I'm sure I'd be more cautious. source: www.about.com reader J. W. Florida-08-19-The witness was taking his grown son fishing for his birthday. They were heading north on the Indian River, when they saw something unusual-an object as bright as a welders arc. The object only appeared for just a few seconds before disappearing. Witness states that the object was flying 2-3 times the speed of a commercial jet. source: www.mufon.com Indiana-03-31-06-Some powerful storms were going on on the 31st of March 2006. I went with my friend to Castleton Indiana (a suburb in northern Indianapolis), and followed behind the storm. We were seeing some very neat lightning and decided to pull into a parking lot near the Castleton Square Mall to view the lightning and allow the storm to pass a little more. Suddenly we saw lights emerge from the clouds and three triangular shaped ships pass overhead very quickly. I got out of the car to look in the direction that the craft had taken, but they had disappeared. I noticed a light pattern on the underside of the craft that matched the triangular shape of the craft. I would have reported this incident much sooner, however I did not know where to report it. source: www.mufon.com New Mexico-08-22-I was driving west on I-40 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The sky was clear, with no clouds. It was about 9:50 AM on 8-22-07. I was just getting to the Coors exit when I looked up in the sky and saw 6 huge objects, all white, all as big as an airplane, 3 on one side and 3 on the other, forming an arrow. One broke away from the pack then went back. I looked down for 2 seconds to get my cell phone to take a picture and looked back and they were gone. I have never seen anything like that. It was like 6 white passenger airplanes flying in an arrow formation. They looked like passenger airplanes without the wings. source: www.mufon.com Great Britain-08-24- I was standing close to the bedroom window in a northerly direction and a moving object attracted my eye. I looked through the window to see fast traveling objects in a linear formation, speeding across the sky. I called to my fiance downstairs and we both opened the front door and watched as they passed overhead, unable to make out what they could be. They looked like hollow cylinders with a central light. We had no idea what they were. Amazed and excited, perplexed we were. I went onto the Internet local news to see if any events had taken place and released anything into the sky, but could not find anything. In late July, at sunset, four white oblong-shaped objects were seen over Orillio. They moved like rockets in the sky, rose up vertically, and then sped away toward the south. He has seen some strange things before in the sky, but this time was different-he had his camera ready, and took a great photo of one of the objects. "I really honestly don't know what they were," said Fraser, who was standing on the Westmount Hill in Orillia near Tim Horton's photographing the burnt orange sunset when one of his friends spotted the first of the vaporous white shapes, followed by a second. Naturally, there would be other explanations offered by debunkers, with jet contrail being the main choice. Fraser disagrees, saying that the objects were not conventional airplanes. Wednesday August 29, 2007 permalink comments (0) More MoD Files We often wonder how we, the people, can make a change in our society, and there is no doubt that there are changes needed. Since this is not a political site, I won't go into the things that I feel need not only change, but a complete overhaul. Well, back to UFOs. The people of the United Kingdom, and I'm sure there was some outside influence as well, have caused the British Ministry of Defence to release more UFO sighting files. This has caused a big boom in articles from all over the U.K. The recently released files from 2006 show 97 sighting reports. Some of these are quite intriguing, but remember that officially the Mod does not investigate these cases, unless they present a threat to the national security. Some of the most interesting cases included an elderly couple reporting aliens looking into their window, a man reporting a massive bang in the sky. He then saw two large fireballs streaking away. In another unusual report, a silver pyramid was reported moving through the skies of Sunderland. In Staffordshire, a mother ship with two smaller ships was seen. None of these cases were revealed publicly until now. These reports are all in .pdf files and can be downloaded freely at the Mod UFO site. Monday August 27, 2007 permalink comments (4) UFO Sighting Reports Welcome to another session of UFO sighting updates. Let's see what we have this week. Arkansas-07-30-Malvern-At 12:45 AM on a partly cloudy night, witness went outside to enjoy the warm night, full moon, and stars. After about 15 minutes, witness saw to his left, from 30-40 degrees above horizon, a rapidly blinking light. The object was a bit larger than a star, and blinking rapidly. The unknown object moved across the sky to the left, following an erratic path. It seemed to follow the path of a horseshoe, moving in, then out, up and around, and then back down. It then disappeared behind a cloud bank. Across the sky quite a distance away, witness spotted another light, which moved in the same direction as the first UFO had. Finally, it disappeared behind the same cloud as the first object. California-08-14-07-Visalia-7:30 AM PST-Witness states: My Dad (retired, former military) called me to report a sighting. He was standing outside his home when he looked up and saw a metallic cigar-shaped craft. There was no propeller, no wings, no sound, and no contrail, heading northwest with an approximate altitude of 10,000 ft. He said it was moving fast enough that he did not have time to call my Mom out to see it. He's never reported anything before so I thought I'd let you know. Florida-08-14-While vacationing in St. Augustine, witness was getting ready to go sea fishing, and out on the deck, spotted a formation of lights which were hovering. It appeared to be made of four green lights. It moved very slowly right to left. Witness watched object for about 10 minutes, at which time it made a circular move in the sky. It then took off, merging into one light, heading east. There were several other planes that night, and witness feels that one of them must have seen the same formation. Minnesota-08-14-Man received a call from his wife about 9:30 PM. She was driving south on I-35 about 100 miles north of St Paul. She said that she had just seen a green fireball fly across the sky. The husband, along with a friend of his, thought little of it at the time, since she had seen a similar thing a few years back. But then she called again, and said she was looking at what she thought was the red light on top of a cell phone tower but it was way too high. Then three fighter jets flying in formation flew over her. She watched as the red-lighted object flew off to the east, with the jets in pursuit. The two men decided to go outside to see if they could spot what the lady was describing. They saw two red objects streaking across the sky toward each other. They appeared to be heading for a collision, but veered away at the last moment. England-07-14-Late at night witness was sitting outside with neighbors having a beer, when he noticed to his left a perfectly round object in the sky. The object was of a Terra cotta color, and it was thought at first that it might be a balloon. That theory was dismissed when, after a brief period of time, it was noted that the object moved in a straight line from left to right. The witness called six other friends over, who also saw the anomalous object. The witness estimated the object's altitude at 10,000 feet and its speed at up to 600 MPH. They reported their sighting to the police station at Hounslow, who reported it to Heathrow Air Traffic Control, but nothing was noted on radar. England-08-12-In the early hours of Sunday, August, 12, witness was sitting in her garden with a cup of coffee, watching shooting stars. The witness says that the objects were remnants of Comet Swift Tuttle. Suddenly, a large object shot across the sky. The object had a faded light appearance, did not leave contrail, made no sound, and had a rolling action to it. The object had appeared from behind her house, and moved in a straight line. She eventually saw five altogether. She has reported her sighting to several professional organizations, but has not yet received an answer. UFO evidence in photographs is one of the most important pieces of proof that we have to ponder over in our search for the truth about what is flying through our skies. I have talked before about the negative comments given to "blurry, fuzzy, photos," and the "too good to be true" clear photos of UFOs. I recently received three photographs that were taken in Cornwall in the United Kingdom in 2006, that fall into the second category. The lady who sent me the photographs told me that she and some friends were taking a ride in a hot air balloon. She estimated they were about 2,000 feet up, when one of her friends saw this object in the sky. At first, they thought it was an airplane in the distance, but as it moved closer, they could see the object was of a disc-shape. This will be around the Internet by this time, and I'm sure will get its share of negative comments, but I have had several correspondences with the lady, who seems like a very level-headed person, and she is certainly not seeking any publicity. A metropolitan police helicopter, on routine patrol, was on the way to a very unusual sighting of a UFO. They would see flashing red lights that made sounds like something spinning around in the air. Shaken by the incident, they reported it officially. For many of the standard reasons, this report was shelved, and no details were released to the public for four years, until that is, this month. This is only one of many U.K. sightings that have come to light through the Freedom of Information Act. It is very interesting to note that these reports are kept under wraps by a government that, by their own admission, does not investigate UFO reports, unless they pose a threat to the national security. My question is: "How does one know whether or not a UFO poses a threat, unless someone investigates it? What are we looking at here? One man gets a report, reads it over, and says, "Oh well, no threat there!" and that's the end of it. Obviously, there is no follow-up of any kind. This sounds a lot like Project Blue Book here in the States. Maybe the British and American governments do have a lot in common after all. They decide what is worthy for the general public to know. We cannot handle the truth, according to our government. Monday August 20, 2007 permalink comments (9) UFO Sighting Reports Welcome to another session of UFO sighting reports. Take a look at some of the reports that have come to my attention this week. California-08-12-The witness was watching the start of the recent meteor shower with his son. It was about 10:00 PM when they lay on their trampoline looking towards the northeast. They noticed what they thought at first was a satellite, but they quickly changed their minds, when the object began zig-zagging across the sky. The object also pulsated, fading in and out, as it moved from the southwest to the north. All of a sudden, the object was gone. Both father and son were somewhat shaken by what they had seen. Colorado-08-10-Our witness, who was working at the time, went out to his truck to get something to drink, and saw what he thought was a partially deflated mylar balloon in the sky. As he watched the unknown object, it soon expanded into a huge, white disc, making movements such as circles and zig-zags. He was shocked to see another object appear, just like the first one. The two UFOs then put on an aerial show, making unusual maneuvers in unison. Soon, one of the objects disappeared, and the other turned on its side, and slowly moved out of view. He called for coworkers to come and see the objects, but before they could corroborate his sighting, the objects had left the area. There was one other witness to the whole event-his supervisor. Michigan-08-07-The witness and her husband were sky watching in Lewiston, when suddenly, an orange lighted ball-shaped object appeared and moved across the sky. The unknown object was very large, and emitted contrail. The couple is experienced in seeing meteors and comets, but attest that this object was not either. They will never forget the awesome sight of August 8. Texas-08-10-The witness, a woman who lives near Tyler, was sitting on her deck at about 10:15 PM, when she saw a number of points of light, similar in size to stars, but she was sure these were not stars. The objects were moving in irregular patterns, some faster than others. The lady was talking to a friend of hers on the phone at the time, and gave her directions to see the objects. Her friend could see them also. The witness called her husband out, and he too, was able to see the unusual movement of the UFOs. United Kingdom-08-11-Some friends were sitting outside because of the heat, and watching the skies. Suddenly, one of the friends yelled, "What is that?" Two unknown objects were moving left to right from their point of view, and then reversed the direction. They appeared to be playing games in the sky. The witnesses frequently watch the skies, but this was the first time they had seen such a thing. They claimed to be "freaked out" by the experience. United Kingdom-08-04-In New Hampshire, a 29-year-old man claims to have had an amazing encounter. Arriving home from work at about 11:00 PM, he sat down to eat on his balcony. He soon noticed a pear-shaped object of red and purple. Incredibly, the object came as close as 100 meters, so close he could make out details of the UFO. The craft had triangle-shaped windows of black, and soon one of them became transparent. Through it, he could see a gray alien with a tight fitting black outfit on! The being seemed to see our witness, and then all of a sudden, the UFO shrank into a white light. The witness, who was not a believer before the sighting, certainly is now. He claims that what he saw was real. Well, folks, don't forget to check back again next week for some more intriguing reports of UFOs, and until then, keep your eyes on the skies. Thursday August 16, 2007 permalink comments (5) Video of UFO over Haiti The hottest UFO report making the Internet rounds right now is a www.youtube.com video allegedly taken in the country of Haiti. This 20 second video supposedly shows two cutting edge UFOs flying over the palm trees of the tropical paradise. It is a great film to watch, but the question is: "Is it real?" Well... it depends on who you listen to. Most of the folks I have discussed this video with say it is an obvious hoax. Yet, again, those who believe that the video is real are very adamant about its authenticity. This certainly falls into the category of "too good to be true." This distinction should not even be considered. Is it not possible for there to be a good clear video of a UFO? Although the video is more than likely a computer generated production, there are other criteria that one should consider, and this is where the authenticity of the video comes into question for me. Who took the film? No one knows. What city was it taken in? We are not told. Were there any other witnesses besides the videographer who took the film? We don't know. What are the details of the sighting and the reason that the cameraman had a cam-corder ready to go? We don't know that either. If we had some of these details, that would go a lot farther in proving this film was real. Take a look and see what you think at Haiti UFO Video. (Image © www.youtube.com) Wednesday August 15, 2007 permalink comments (46) Alien Abductions: Creating a Modern Phenomenon In an article titled, Alien Abductions: Creating a Modern Phenomenon, the author discusses a new book by Terry Matheson. The gist of the article is not whether or not Alien Abductions are real or not, but how authors use their forum to influence readers to think the same way they do. There are researchers who believe that the alien abduction phenomena is a real event, based on physical reality. Some believe that abductions are directly linked to UFOs, but others tend to disagree, believing that abduction stands totally on its own. I will agree that the abduction side of the UFO mystery is one of the most difficult issues to get a good handle on. It also seems that as of late, the reports of alien abduction have almost disappeared. Is this simply a lull of activity? Or have the aliens completed their testing on humans, and now we wait for the next phase of their operation? If this is the case, it is a frightening thought. Don't you think? Monday August 13, 2007 permalink comments (36) UFO Sighting Reports Here are some of the best UFO sighting reports to come my way this past week. Illinois-08-03-The witness was driving in the direction of Lamont, nearing the cross roads of 131 and Archer Drive, when he saw a jelly bean shaped object just above a tree line. The chrome colored object did not shine on its own, but was reflecting light. The object seemed to be sitting still. The witness says that the object was unlike anything he had ever seen before. While watching it, suddenly it disappeared! There were no clouds in the sky for it to hide behind. The object had a smooth, metallic look to it. Kentucky-08-01-A man and his girlfriend were heading to his mothers house to do some chores. While exiting their car, they noticed how clear the sky was at the time. As they gazed at the heavens for a moment, they thought they were looking at Sagittarius. Soon, they noticed, to the right of the constellation what they thought to be a star. It was very bright, and then began to move across the face of Sagittarius, and exit on the opposite side. Soon, three more objects appeared, with one of them moving over the victims vantage point. This object was without a doubt a triangle shape, and being closer, they could describe it as "blacker than black." This would be repeated three more times, as all four triangles made their way on the same route. Finally the objects were gone from sight. Nevada-08-02-The witness was sitting on his deck when he noticed a rather bright light heading toward him from the west. The object was much lower that the airplanes that he often watched. The object was 2-3 times the brightness of anything else in the sky at the time. The object had no running lights of any kind, and as it passed by, the witness noticed there was no contrail. As the object moved away, the witness described its back side as brilliantly lit as its front. The witness has over 30 years of being an aviation buff, and has never seen any other flying object like the one he described. It is the first time he has made a UFO report. Nevada-08-03-The following night in Reno, a very similar sighting report was made. A witness, while coming out of a shopping center, saw an extremely bright light about 10:30 PM. The object was round, and moving from south to north. The object had no running lights of any kind. Witness saw a plane a few minutes later, and knew for certain that the first object was a UFO. France-08-01-Our reporter was looking at Jupiter through a small telescope when he noticed an extremely bright light which had appeared from nowhere above the bay in front of him. As he stared at the object for a couple of seconds, it blinked, and then disappeared. There was no sound from the object, and no sound of any kind. The silence was eerie, but soon the sounds of nature returned. He had seen other similar looking objects, but never had one disappear in front of him. Iceland-2005-The following report was submitted by an about.com reader. About two years ago I was driving my taxi with passenger to a town called Hafnafjordur. This was about 5:30 in the morning-the weather was kind of strange like it can get here in Iceland. It snows a bit and the sky has thick clouds, but sometimes you can see the dark sky through them. It is rather hard to describe these weather conditions we get up here. As we drove into town I noticed what seemed to be purple light behind the clouds. It was not the sun coming up or anything like that, the sun doesn't come up that early that time of year, and we were facing southwest. Because I have an open mind, a thought occurred to me "There are aliens in Hafnafjordur tonight." I didn't say anything but kept on driving to the destination my passenger was going to. When we came to his place, which stands on a high point in town where you can see a lot of the town from, we noticed a bright pole of light reaching from the sky and landing on a building, as this pole of bright light reaches the sky it bends. I said to the passenger "What is this pole of light?" and we stared at it. The car was moving very slowly and when a house comes in between us and the light, the light had gone, or faded away. Do you have any info on sightings similar to this one, and what are they? Everything I have heard about light until that day is that light cannot bend. So I'm very curious. I would like to thank the reader from Iceland for sending in the report. There have been reports similar to his, but I have never heard of light "bending" before. If any of you have an interesting account, send it to me, and I'll include it on our weekly reports.
